Federal Chapter PSFMT Launches International Webinar Series Hosted by Shifa College of Medicine in its inaugural episode
The Federal Chapter of the Pakistan Society of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (PSFMT), in collaboration with leading departments of forensic medicine across Pakistan, successfully launched the first episode of its International Webinar Series on 23rd May 2026. The inaugural session was organized and hosted by the Department of Forensic Medicine, Shifa College of Medicine.
This important academic initiative was aimed at strengthening international collaboration and promoting academic excellence in forensic medicine and forensic sciences. The webinar brought together distinguished forensic experts, faculty members, researchers, and students from Pakistan, Malaysia, India, Nigeria, and other countries.
The session commenced with inaugural remarks by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Amir, Principal, Shifa College of Medicine. The webinar was organized and moderated by Dr. Sadia Syed, Head of Department of Forensic Medicine, Shifa College of Medicine, and General Secretary of the Federal Chapter. The participants and organizers were honored by the valuable remarks of Professor Abdul Rasheed Mian, Patron of the Federal Chapter and Dean, Watim Medical & Dental College, and Dr. Anwaar Ahmed, President of the Federal Chapter and Head of Forensic Department, Fazaia Medical College.
The International Webinar Series represents a collaborative academic initiative among the Departments of Forensic Medicine of:

- Watim Medical & Dental College
- Islamic International Medical College
- Rawalpindi Medical College
- Fazaia Medical College
The webinar featured two insightful scientific presentations:
- "Reporting Sudden and Unexplained Deaths" by Prof. Shafi Muhammad Nizamani, Professor of Forensic Pathology, MAHSA University, Malaysia
- "Digital Era of Forensic Odontology" by Dr. Samiya Riaz, Assistant Professor and Forensic Odontologist, International Islamic University Malaysia
The academic session provided participants with valuable insight into contemporary medicolegal practices and emerging developments in forensic sciences. The interactive discussions highlighted the growing importance of international academic cooperation and continuous professional development within the discipline.
